Presenting a selection of Classic Brothers’ Grimm Tales and a Spooky Comedy
Drama Collective is delighted to present its summer double bill of entertaining stage adaptions of Classic Brothers’ Grimm Tales as well as a witty spooky comedy on Sunday 12th of July at the All Saints Centre in Lewes.
Adapted by Tim Rowland from the original stories as told by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm, we are looking forward to enchanting audience members this summer with a selection of the Brothers’ Grimm beloved tales.
A childless couple makes a deal with a sorceress to get rapunzel greens from the sorceress’ garden. After the birth of their daughter, who is a beautiful girl named Rapunzel, she is locked away in a tower by the sorceress. As the years go by, Rapunzel’s hair grows very long and is used as the only way in or out of the tower. Fortunately a prince finds Rapunzel and they fall in love. To stop their meeting, the sorceress cuts Rapunzels hair and blinds the prince. After years of searching however, the prince finds Rapunzel whose tears restore his sight and they live happily ever after in the end.
In Puss in Boots, a clever cat helps his poor master gain power, wealth and royal marriage by defeating a sorcerer through trickery. The cat’s schemes lead his master from poverty to kingship with masses of land and a beautiful bride, whilst the cat becomes prime minister.
Little Red Riding Hood is the beloved story of a girl visiting her grandmother with a basket of goodies. On her way, the girl encounters a deceptive and greedy wolf. After the wolf gobbled up her grandmother, a huntsman manages to save her and Little Red Riding Hood. But another wolf appears – can they survive yet another hungry baddy?
In Snow White, a young princess escapes her stepmother’s jealousy and finds comfort with a happy band of small friendly fellows in the forest. Will Snow White ever learn her lesson or will she fall victim to poisoned concoctions that her evil stepmother entices Snow White with, or will she manage to end the Queen’s reign?
Sleeping Beauty is another exciting tale involving a cursed princess who falls into a deep sleep caused by a spiteful fairy’s curse. After a hundred years, however, a prince arrives and awakens her from her slumber, bringing happiness upon the kingdom once more.

Our multi-generational cast members and backstage crew are also excited to present Last Train to Sleepy Hollow which follows Arthur who is summoned by his Godmother to exorcise her haunted house. In this story, Arthur uncovers a plot to scare her away and defeats the Bigwitch, finds love, and restores Spooky Hollow before catching the last train home. What a ride!
We are thrilled to be able to perform this play which was written for stage by David Pemberton and published by Lazy Bee Scripts. David has written more than 30 plays which have been performed all over the world.
