Theatre Classes for Adults in Lewes

By performing a variety of personas from different genres and script types as well as practising different roles and situations, our goal is to help individuals with all abilities and from all walks of life to build confidence, work on classics, as well as unique and traditional plays.
This group is ideal for anyone aged 18+ with, or without previous theatre or drama experience. Through games, scene creation and by exploring mindfulness we delve into the world of the performing arts where all are welcome to nourish their creativity and foster imagination while developing vocal skills, breathing techniques, as well as insights on movement and interpretation.
Where and when?
Our enthusiastic and friendly grown-up group of talented individuals meet on Wednesdays between 7.30pm and 9pm in the function room (upstairs) at the Elephant & Castle in Lewes.
Please note that our regular group meets during school term-time (see term dates below).
Term details
We meet in-person at the Elephant & Castle pub in Lewes, and online on some dates, on Wednesdays.
Our six week terms correlate with East Sussex County Council school term dates as follows:
Term 1 (2024)
Wednesdays – September 11th, 18th, 25th and October 2nd, 9th, 16th
Additional rehearsals for some members – September 12th, 19th, 21st, 26th and October 3rd, 10th, 17th
Term 2 (2024)
Wednesdays – November 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th and December 4th, 11th
Additional rehearsals for some members – Saturday 23rd and Thursday 5th
Term 3 (2025)
January – 8th, 9th (not all cast members), 16th, 23rd, 30th
February – 2nd and 5th (all cast tech & dress rehearsal), 9th (show date!), 12th (TBC)
Term 4
Starts on Monday, 24 February 2025
Ends on Friday, 4 April 2025
Term 5
Starts on Tuesday, 22 April 2025
Ends on Friday, 23 May 2025

Cost per member
We believe that the performing arts should be available to everyone to experience and try out themselves. As such, we keep our rates exceptionally competitive so that more people may have a chance to access theatre and drama.
Each term costs £80 per member.
Please note that invoices are usually sent at least a week before the start of each term and payment is expected by the start of term.
