Presenting a selection of Classic Brothers’ Grimm Tales and a Spooky Dieselpunk Comedy
Drama Collective is delighted to present a variety of entertaining stage adaptions of Classic Brothers’ Grimm Tales as well as a witty spooky Dieselpunk style comedy on Sunday 12th of July at the All Saints Centre in Lewes.
Adapted by Tim Rowland from the original stories as told by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm, are looking forward to enchanting audience members this summer with a selection of the Brothers’ Grimm beloved tales.
In Puss in Boots, a clever cat helps his poor master gain power by tricking the royal family and defeating a sorcerer. The cat’s schemes lead his master from poverty to kingship, with the cat becoming the prime minister.
Little Red Riding Hood tells of a girl visiting her grandmother who encounters a deceptive wolf. After the wolf’s trickery, a huntsman saves her, and another wolf appears, demonstrating lessons of trust and cleverness.
In Snow White, the princess escapes her stepmother’s jealousy but falls victim to a poisoned apple. A prince’s kiss ultimately revives her, ending the Queen’s reign.
Sleeping Beauty involves a cursed princess who falls into a deep sleep. After a hundred years, a prince awakens her with a kiss, leading to a celebration of love.
Our multi-generational cast members and backstage crew are also excited to present Last Train to Sleepy Hollow which follows Arthur who is summoned by his Godmother to exorcise her haunted house. In this story, Arthur uncovers a plot to scare her away and defeats the Bigwitch, finds love, and restores Spooky Hollow before catching the last train home. What a ride!
We are thrilled to be able to perform this play which was written for stage by David Pemberton and published by Lazy Bee Scripts. David has written more than 30 plays which have been performed all over the world.
LIMITED CAPACITY
As with many of our one-time-only productions, we hope to welcome a full house and as the restoration works are on-going at the All Saints Centre, we encourage you to book your tickets before they all sell out due to less than usual seating availability.
As an inclusive theatre production group, we are pleased to allocate a number of front row seat spaces for wheelchair users.
TIMINGS
- Doors will open at 1:00pm and the show will aim to start promptly at 1:30pm.
- The interval usually takes place after about 45 minutes to 70 minutes after the show has started.
- The interval usually lasts for 20 minutes giving audience members enough time to get refreshments and visit the facilities.
- The performance may finish between 4:30pm and 5pm.
- Please note that times may vary on the day.
REFRESHMENTS
During the interval, our fabulous volunteers will be serving freshly made cakes, coffee, tea and soft drinks and selling raffle tickets to support our community-led performing arts groups. As card payments can not be accepted, please bring cash.
THE PERFORMANCE VENUE
These productions will be presented on stage in Lewes, East Sussex at the wonderful multi-purpose community venue, the All Saints Centre, managed by Lewes Town Council.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The venue is just a few minutes walk from Lewes train station and a number of bus stops.
The historical town of Lewes is accessible on routes from Eastbourne, Seaford, Newhaven, Wivelsfield, Haywards Heath, Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield, Brighton and London. There are train connections with Southern Railway, bus routes with Brighton & Hove Buses as well as other local bus companies and community transport options.
CAR PARKS
Lewes Station is a few minutes walking distance from the venue and has electric car charging if needed. East Street car park and Phoenix Causeway car park are within walking distance, and there are a number of other car parks in Lewes which you can find easily online.

Please note that this performance does not allow photography or filming at any time for copyright reasons.
At times, there may be loud sound effects or potentially scary characters which some children aged 5 years and under may find a little frightening. However, it is ultimately at parents/guardians own discretion as to whether you feel that your child would enjoy the performance.
